Uber Unveils COVID-19 Protocols Requiring Masks for Drivers, Passengers

Starting on Monday, Uber will have new rules in place for both the drivers and the passengers.

Drivers will not be able to pick up customers until they have verified they are wearing a mask. They will verify through Uber's photo recognition software in the Uber app.

Both passengers and drivers will be able to cancel rides if either party doesn't wear a mask or if either party removes their mask at any point during the ride.

No passenger will be allowed to sit in the front seat.

Uber X and Uber XL will not permit more than three passengers.

Uber Eats drivers can now notify Uber if the restaurant is not following social distancing or if they have a long wait time.

The restaurant can also notify Uber if the driver is not following protocol by wearing a mask.
