NCM Fathom presents an encore presentation of Rossini's Armida in select theatres nationwide. The encore presentation (captured live on May 1, 2010) will be shown for one day only on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 6:30 PM in all time zones. This mythical story of a sorceress who enthralls men in her island prison has inspired operatic settings by a multitude of composers, including Gluck, Haydn, and Dvo?ák. Renée Fleming stars in the title role of Rossini's version, opposite no fewer than six tenors. Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman returns to direct this new production of a work she describes as "a buried treasure, a box of jewels." The fanciful and magical tale, Zimmerman says, "has an epic, enchanted quality and a tremendous visual element."

THIS IS A MOVIE FOR ADULTS, WITH SOME VERY DARK CONTENT AND ALOT OF NUDITY. OVERALL A VERY ENTERTAINING MOVIE THAT KEPT MY ATTENTION FOR THE ENTIRE 2 HR 47MIN. YOU DONT HAVE TO BE AN AVID FAN OF THE COMIC BOOK, BECAUSE THE MOVIE TAKES YOU THROUGH MOST OF THE CHARACTERS BACK STORIES WHILE STILL KEEPING THE PLOT MOVING FORWARD. THIS IS A REAL TWIST ON A SUPERHERO MOVIE, BUT I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT IT IS DEFINITLY RATED "R".
