My dad once told me, "We have limitless ways to spend money, but very limited ways to earn it." 

One of my favorite ways to rid myself of extra money is to take my kids to eat out.  Realizing that you cannot "spend your way to savings" but you can spend quite a bit less on dining out with kids if you go on the right day at the right time.
