Batten Disease is taking the life of Westley.  No kids survive and there is very little research being conducted.

Westley was a healthy newborn that had his entire life ahead of him until the ugly disease surfaced. The video is on YouTube under "Westley's Wish: Batten Disease Awareness".   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sPvFLM7368&feature=player_detailpage

There is a Chinese Auction Benefit for Westley, "Westley's Wish" on May 18.
Please take a look at the video and consider helping his family put the word out about "Westley's Wish" not only to make the auction a success but to help promote Batten Disease awareness.

TYLER’S LIGHT TO HOST A WEEKEND OF EVENTS TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT DRUG USE IN CENTRAL OHIO

Rule(3) Golf Outing and Tyler’s Light 5k scheduled for May 4 & 5

PICKERINGTON, OH – April 2, 2013 – This May, Tyler’s Light, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to educating the community about the dangers of prescription and illegal drug use, is hosting a weekend of events to bring communities together and raise awareness. The first event is the Rule(3) Golf Outing on Saturday, May 4 at the Cumberland Trail Golf Course in Pickerington. This event is open to 32 teams and includes a surf and turf dinner. The second event scheduled for Sunday, May 5 is the Tyler’s Light 5k Fun Run/Walk. Last year’s inaugural 5k event attracted more than 1,600 participants making it one of the largest 5k events in the state. This year’s event will begin at Victory Park in Pickerington at 2 p.m. and will feature live entertainment and prizes for top finishers in each age group. “We are very excited to host two family-friendly events in one weekend that will help us spread the Tyler’s Light ‘Speak Up, Save a Life’ message,” said Wayne Campbell, Tyler’s Light President. “Our organization has received incredible support from Central Ohio communities and local law enforcement. We know we are making a difference in the fight against drugs.” Registration is required for each event. The deadline to register for the Rule(3) Golf Outing is April 26. Last year’s event was so popular that it quickly sold out. The fee to participate is $80 per person or $320 per team. This year’s 5k event is also expected to attract a large crowd of more than 2,000 participants. Individuals interested in the 5k can sign up through the day of the event, but only those who pre-register will be guaranteed an event t-shirt. Entry fees vary for Students ($15 grades K-12), Adults ($20 for 18+) and Families ($40 for up to five people). Registration links for each event can be found at http://tylerslight.com/. Volunteers of America provides housing, job help and mental health support to more than 1,750 Ohio veterans each year – hundreds of whom live and get help at our Harmon Avenue Veterans Resource Center.  The reason May is important is because we are competing in a $250,000 Facebook contest with The Home Depot Foundation to win money to add shelter beds for female veterans and improve our current Veteran Resource Center space.  We’re up against 9 other organizations and while we know we can win, we also know we need help.  Hopefully from your listeners.  Voting for the Facebook contest begins on May 1 at VOAVETS.org

This is a local organization trying to go national and help the families of Newtown heal, slowly but surely!

Here is there missione:
We want to offer organization and structure to harness a genuine goodness that exists in society. We have always believed that offering structure to something that is genuinely good will help those trying to improve themselves or a situation.

The organization and structure we want to offer for those wanting to do something for the Town of Newtown consists of:

confirming the bench specifications with the Town of Newtown for their parks
securing a negotiated price with the bench manufacturer,
confirming with the Town of Newtown how our donors should designate their donations,
gaining an understanding with the Town of Newtown on their acceptance of this gift,
providing a simple way for those who want to do so, to participate in giving a lasting and practical gift to Newtown, Connecticut
organizing this fund raising in an electronic and simple-to-use way, by setting up a website,

Facebook Site and linking it to the Newtown Parks and Recreation website.
