TYLER’S LIGHT TO HOST A WEEKEND OF EVENTS TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT DRUG USE IN CENTRAL OHIO
Rule(3) Golf Outing and Tyler’s Light 5k scheduled for May 4 & 5
PICKERINGTON, OH – April 2, 2013 – This May, Tyler’s Light, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to educating the community about the dangers of prescription and illegal drug use, is hosting a weekend of events to bring communities together and raise awareness. The first event is the Rule(3) Golf Outing on Saturday, May 4 at the Cumberland Trail Golf Course in Pickerington. This event is open to 32 teams and includes a surf and turf dinner. The second event scheduled for Sunday, May 5 is the Tyler’s Light 5k Fun Run/Walk. Last year’s inaugural 5k event attracted more than 1,600 participants making it one of the largest 5k events in the state. This year’s event will begin at Victory Park in Pickerington at 2 p.m. and will feature live entertainment and prizes for top finishers in each age group. “We are very excited to host two family-friendly events in one weekend that will help us spread the Tyler’s Light ‘Speak Up, Save a Life’ message,” said Wayne Campbell, Tyler’s Light President. “Our organization has received incredible support from Central Ohio communities and local law enforcement. We know we are making a difference in the fight against drugs.” Registration is required for each event. The deadline to register for the Rule(3) Golf Outing is April 26. Last year’s event was so popular that it quickly sold out. The fee to participate is $80 per person or $320 per team. This year’s 5k event is also expected to attract a large crowd of more than 2,000 participants. Individuals interested in the 5k can sign up through the day of the event, but only those who pre-register will be guaranteed an event t-shirt. Entry fees vary for Students ($15 grades K-12), Adults ($20 for 18+) and Families ($40 for up to five people). Registration links for each event can be found at http://tylerslight.com/.
